About Dave Cung
Dave N. Cung has over 15 years experience as a Controller helping small businesses
from emerging growth companies, multinational corporations, and financial institutions
in running their most sophisticated and challenging business in the bay area.
As a student of one of the popular business school in Silicon Valley, Dave went on to
specialize in finance and accounting. He was most recently a Consultant at the local CPA firm. He assisted small businesses with start up, internal
policy/control, part-time controller, and funding.
He worked with bankers and angel investors to raise seed money for working capital
and R&D.
He evaluated and established international offices in Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong,
Singapore and Vietnam. He helped write up business plan, business proposal,
marketing plan, and strategic planning. He hired key accounting and finance personnel
and cleaned up the book for small business. He negotiated with IRS on income tax such
as the 1040, the 1120, Schedule C, Schedule E, FTB on sales tax, County Assessor on
unsecured property tax audit the 571L.
Among his most notable accomplishments, he was an integral team member from
lawyer, bankers and CPAs to help small business. It landed him on some of the deals
like the sale of a private medium size business for $23 million dollars to a publicly trade
company. He started external audit, business valuation, M&A and business brokerage
for companies including technologies. He managed company stock ledger, options,
participate and present in board of directors meetings. He inquired and prepared for
possible IPO and researched SEC reporting requirements such as SOX, 10K, and 10Q.
With his expertise in banking and real estate, he successfully helped raise funds for all
kinds of projects as a Controller for various companies. One of the most noticeable was
working with Wells Fargo trying to raise $50 million for a construction project of a brand
new an Auto Dealership right of 880 freeway.
Over the years, Dave has used his business knowledge to provide critical business
advice to local companies seeking to protect their business, to engage in various
business partnerships, to raise funds and finance deals, and to expand some globally.
Dave was board member of VAPA, a Vietnamese American Professional Alliance with
over 300 professionals in the bay area from 1997-2001.
